about
The Waste Land is a post-apocalyptic concept album, divided in three chapters. 10 tracks. 50 minutes of brutal and melodic post-modern metal where music, images and words combine themselves to create an insane hybrid object.
Through the story of a nameless, partially amnesic and un-heroic character, told by himself, The Waste Land shows the critical crossing of the tattered world after its catastrophic ending. Guided through the devastated lands by a fragmented, hollow and formless shape (the character), we are watching the unavoidable collapse of a fallen society and the hard rebuilding of a lost humanity on a heap of broken images. On the road leading the wandering character to his possible redemption—at least to the understanding of this inexpressible and unspeakable quest—ashen landscapes, snatches of subdued memories and sickly hallucinations intermingle and break the frontiers of space, time and reason up, until he expires.
To give life to this post-modern story, in the post-apocalyptic tradition of literature, visual arts and cinema, we tried to create a special relation between music, mixing, images and words. We therefore collaborated with various artists who transposed Hord’s score and lyrics in their work: Jochem Jacobs (producer) ; Jakob Arevarn (director, designer) ; David Lundmark (photographer) ; Pär Olofsson (graphic designer) ; David Sandberg (model) ; Colin Vauthier (logo, layout).
The Waste Land is the hybrid result of this human and artistic experience.
